What We Spent Last Week on Groceries and Eating Out

If you are ever in Fort Meyers, you must try this place!
We only ate out twice last week, and that was on our overnight trip to Fort Myers to see the winter homes of Edison and Ford.  We found a place called the Shrimp Shack online and we based our decision to try it out on the online reviews.

I think it was one of the best dinners we have had out in a long time! I had stuffed shrimp with cheesy grits, cole slaw and hush puppies. My husband had fish and chips and green beans.

For dessert, I had German Chocolate Cake that was stuffed with cream cheese (OMG) and my husband had a carrot cake with bananas in it.  Both were to die for.

We also had two draft beers, they were $1 each during Happy Hour. The total cost of the dinner with tip was $64.00.

The road less traveled

On the way home, I-75 was a nightmare so we go off the main highway, gassed up at WaWa    ( ate lunch $20) and found a couple of state roads to make our way home.

It added more time, but at least we were moving!! And the scenery was so much prettier.  There were a couple of afternoon storms to dodge, be we managed just fine.

Our grocery shopping is at $97.00 for the first week of July which included the purchase of a birthday cake for $19.99.  It doesn't matter who's birthday it is, my husband INSISTS on a Publix cake to celebrate and enjoy.

We took a spur of the moment day trip to south Florida and checked out the winter homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford.  They offered a tour of the grounds which we purchased an enjoyed.  They also had a museum and Edison's lab that you could go through and cool off from the heat.

These are just a few of the pictures we took while on the tour.  When we were looking at the museum and its pictures of the Edisons and Fords on excursions to the Everglades, they were dressed to the nines.

The photos were black and white, but you could tell that the clothes were heavy and layered, collars buttoned up and coats.

I guess what is odder, is that they had a photographer.  But, since they were famous for their many achievements maybe that is how they traveled, with a photographer to document the event and them.

All in all, it was a good trip we were glad we were able to get away.

Yesterday, we went to church and afterward we did yard work.  All this rain really keeps the grass green, but it sure grows fast. Yard work is something I enjoy doing, but with this heat, I definitely have to pace myself and not get overheated.

Goodness, it will be one month tomorrow and I will be back to work again.  Summer is just flying by!!  I still have lots to do, which include getting new work shoes, and work slacks.

There is still a closet or two that I need to go through and of course there is eBay.  I am working on building up my eBay listings to 700 by the time school starts.  Right now I am at 570ish.

Once I get I get in the groove and can avoid interruptions, the process goes pretty smoothly.  Typically, I can list about 10-15 items a day in between doing other chores or answering grandkiddos questions.
