Monday Stuff Done

I was up early this morning (5:30) with a full day of things to get done. I read my bible (trying to do
better with this) and then went to the gym.  How long has it been since I made time to go to the gym?  Oh... only since January of this year.  You know, New Year's Resolutions and all that stuff.

After the gym visit, I stopped by Target for coffee for the house.  I used my Fetch app and scored an extra 5000 points. You use the app to scan your grocery receipts for points.  Some items are special bonus items which give you more points.    You can use the points for Amazon gift cards, Entertainment gift cards,  and Home Goods cards. If you are interested, download the app on your phone and use my referral code WX8BV, you will receive 2000 points and so will I.

I came home and fixed two pans of cornbread for my cornbread stuffing contribution for our Thanksgiving hosts on Thursday.  I also prepped boiled eggs for lunches for the rest of the week.

During this time working in the kitchen, my oldest called to chat.  It was a reflective conversation for both of us.  We both struggle with holidays and family get-togethers especially since my parents passed.   That was part of the conversation, how certain traditions or food items from the past sneak their way into the present and that triggers those emotions that are hiding deep but escape as warm tears down your face.  It just never gest any easier, does it?

My trigger has been Publix Holiday cookies. My mom would ALWAYS get these for our family at Christmas time. I will steer clear of the display in the store as even a glimpse of them will get me going.

Then it was off to Orlando to get my hair cut and hit up a Thrift Store.  My hairdresser has been cutting my hair for the last 30 years.  You can say I trust him with my hair and my secrets lol.  I would follow him just about anywhere.

This evening I am going to watch The Crown on Netflix.  The third season has launched and I can't wait to get started.  Have you watched the series?  What do you think?

There is stuff to do this week ranging from getting the Christmas tree put up, decorations and lights on the outside of the house, cards addressed, and then there is the usual stuff to do as well.  And, we will try to work in some fun stuff too. ;)

Are you going to work in some fun stuff into your busy week?

  1. The scent of my mother's powder cause tears to come unbidden. I do not steer clear of things my mother did on holidays. I embrace it. I have driven 200 miles to get my hair cut, so I understand.
